The Special Committee to study the request of Palestine
West Bank (Islam Times) - The Secretary of the Executive Committee of the PLO, Yasser Abed Rabbo, announced on Wednesday that: "The Committee set up by the Security Council to study the request of Palestine to statehood had ended its work, and will deliver its report formally to the Security Council during the coming hours for the opening of the debate on it next Friday.
Islam Times: Islam Times: the correspondent of Islam Times in the West Bank said that in an interview with the Voice of Palestine radio, Abed Rabbo said that the report contains the different views on the Palestinian request for statehood, noting that the arguments and positions adopted by the advocates of a Palestinian state are stronger than those of the opponents.
He also said that there are eight countries so far supporting the approval of accepting the Palestinian state as a permanent member of the United Nations, and the rest of the countries except the United States has not announced yet their positions, pointing out that the discussion on the Palestinian request that will take place next Friday is not the final effort of the Palestinian leadership or the recognition of the Palestinian state, as the Palestinian authority is able to open the debate request once again through the General Assembly of the United Nations.
