Islam Times - Obama has chosen the shape of the next phase wanted by the U.S. administration in Lebanon. He thus turned the way of confrontation with Hezbollah into an extraordinary one, after his administration has failed, along with the usurper entity, to attack this party and its allies militarily...

Islam Times: Moreover, Obama’s truthfulness in describing the recent developments in the Arab world contradicted the U.S. administration that tried to steal the achievements of the rebels and to turn them into advantages in its favor.

Obama’s late speech has annoyed the Israeli leadership, because he mentioned the 1967 borders, and because of the beginning of the last half of his mandate as a president, with what this requires of trying to gain the satisfaction of the Jewish organizations in the United States for the upcoming elections. In fact, Obama delivered a speech before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), during which he was honestly addressing the Jews in the occupied Palestine telling them that the situation is changing around them and that a new way to confront Hezbollah should be identified aiming at calming them down.
Obama has confirmed what was leaked about the content of the indictment to be issued by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, which is examining the case of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. He stressed that this indictment would accuse Hezbollah saying “the indictment would stand in the face of groups, like Hezbollah, that are conducting political assassination and are seeking to impose their will through the rockets and the car bombs”. He also revealed his administration’s intent to change the way of the U.S. confrontation with Hezbollah to a non-traditional one.
The U.S. administration has tried through the permanent military support to the Zionist entity to destroy Hezbollah and its allies, but after the failure of the military and security wars waged by the usurper entity, Hezbollah became a power that poses a threat to the Israeli existence. Therefore, Obama and his administration are intending, as he said in his late speech, to change the ways of confrontation and to transfer them to the Lebanese interior through engaging Hezbollah in an internal strife as a result of being accused of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, since this former PM was and is still a significant leader in the Sunni arena.
Nonetheless, some Lebanese political forces have always praised their alliance with the U.S. administration, and some even exceeded that to talk about their close friendship with it and were optimistic about Obama as the new head of governance. They also worked on propagating him as the president that would take care of their causes and would seek to spread peace. Yet, those forces feel disturbed when being accused by others of being an agent or in other words of having goals that comply with the American and Israeli ones.
Hence, have they reconsidered their positions and opinions regarding the U.S. administration and Obama after what he has said in his speech when he stated: “The links between the United States and Israel are unbreakable, and the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security is invulnerable”! Obama has also stressed in his speech that his administration has made Israel’s security a priority and has increased the military cooperation to unprecedented levels, including the anti-missile “Iron Dome” system, and vowed to maintain Israel’s qualitative military superiority”.
According to some political forces in the region, the U.S. administration and its policies aim at spreading democracy and rejecting racism, and this is what the American policies throughout the decades have promoted. However, what Obama has said in his speech about the fact the he “told Netanyahu during a meeting that the number of Palestinians living west of the Jordan River is growing rapidly and fundamentally reshaping the demographic realities of both Israel and the Palestinians. This will make it harder and harder- without a peace deal- to maintain Israel as a Jewish state”, confirmed that those allegations are but only a lie. Indeed, a civilized person would not allow himself to speak about a people describing them as just a number that would numerically beat other people.
When the Arab revolutions started to overwhelm the regimes, and when those regimes started to collapse one after the other, the American administration worked on turning those victories into advantages in its favor, despite its permanent attempts to make the rebels fail in immunizing their revolutions. It also claimed that it is the one that incited and is inciting the revolutions for the freedom of peoples, not to mention that its Arab allies followed the same wave of those allegations and started to assume that the revolutions are the first step that would lead the U.S. to control the region and would eliminate the forces of resistance and opposition that overthrew their rule and are forming a barrier preventing them from ruling again, and especially in Lebanon.
However, Obama, mistakenly and/or explicitly addressing a clear message to the Israelis regarding the need to pay attention to the changing situation around them and not to believe what the U.S. intelligence is trying to spread about an American spring in the region, said: “The world is moving too fast, the extraordinary challenges faced by Israel will grow, and the delay would undermine the security of Israel and the peace that the Israeli people deserve. I know that some of you disagree with this assessment, and I respect that. And as fellow Americans and friends of Israel, I know that we can have this discussion”.
Both Obama and his administration know that the revolutions carried out by the Arab youth are not in their favor, especially with the awareness of this generation, which took the reins of control in a country contrary to all what is conspired against them. Thus, Obama’s truthfulness was in its right place when he said “A new generation of Arabs is re-shaping the region. A just and lasting peace can no longer be forged with one or two Arab leaders”.
Obama was honest with the American and Israeli public opinion, because he sees that it is the duty of both states to be aware of the risks threatening them in order to preserve their interests. However, the political forces in the region, which are allies with Obama and his administration, are still refusing to be honest with their selves before being honest with their people, and are rejecting the idea of working for the benefit of their peoples and homelands rather than working for their personal benefit. This could be done through admitting their mistakes and retracting them instead of ratifying the American lie that is contradicted by the Americans themselves.
