Islam Times - Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Ecuador on the last leg of his Latin American tour and held talks with his Ecuadorian counterpart, President Rafael Correa.

Ahmadinejad arrived in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito late on Thursday and received a warm official welcome by Correa in the presidential palace.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian president met with his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro, and the country's revolution leader Fidel Castro.

In his meeting with Cuban officials, Ahmadinejad stressed the importance of reinforcing unity and solidarity between the nations of Iran and Cuba to stand up to the extremism of the US and its imperial policies.

They also called for the establishment of a new world order based on principles of humanity and justice against a backdrop of the collapsing global imperialism.

The two Cuban leaders praised President Ahmadinejad for his anti-imperialist positions.

Fidel lauded Iran's “outstanding position” in resisting the arrogant powers, and described the Islamic Republic as “the beacon of hope” for the world nations.

Iran's president is on a five-day tour of four Latin American countries. He arrived in the Cuban capital on Wednesday on the third leg of his tour after he paid visits to Venezuela and Nicaragua.
