Syria says will cooperate with UN-AL envoy to end unrest
The Syrian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that the Damascus government is determined to find a peaceful solution to the crisis in the country while protecting its citizens by disarming terrorists operating in Syria.

The announcement comes as Annan is due to give details of his efforts to end Syria unrest to the UN Security Council.

Annan's spokesman Ahmad Fawzi said on Thursday that the former UN chief has received a response to "concrete proposals" he submitted to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad last weekend.

Meanwhile, thousands of Syrians took to the streets for a second day of nationwide rallies dubbed the Global March for Syria.

Demonstrators called for national unity and rejected any form of foreign intervention in their country’s internal affairs. They also thanked the Syrian army for protecting them against armed gangs.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March and many people, including security forces, have lost their lives in the violence.

The West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of killing the protesters. But Damascus blames ''outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups'' for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
