Islam Times - A demonstration was held today in the historic Palestinian city of Jafa, which was occupied by Israel in 1948.
Al-Aqsa Foundation revealed that an Israeli company called “Solel Boneh, dug up the cemetery of Shekh Mons, in order to build apartments for the students of Tel Aviv University and a shopping mall.
Amongst the protesters was Sheikh Raed Salah, a Palestinian religious and political leader who recently won a court case in Britain against his deportation.
These excavations were discovered by a delegation from Al-Aqsa Foundation, headed by Abdel Majeed Mohammed. Amongst the wreckage they discovered remnants of gravestones and parts of skeletons.
When al-Aqsa foundation took the case to court, Tel Aviv University was ordered by the court to give a response by the 6th August. However Tel Aviv University ignored this order and continued with the excavations.
Palestinians living in Jaffa are now creating a campaign to save both the historical ruins and the Muslim graveyard which was partly destroyed in 1948 and only 10 percent of the graveyard now remains.
The al-Aqsa foundation has strongly condemned the action of the Israelis and considered it a violation of the dead people sanctity. However, Israel is continuing its crimes through digging the graves which is prohibited by all religions and international laws.
