Nabil Elaraby talks about Turkey crisis

Islam Times - Nabil Elaraby, the Secretary-General of the Arab Leagues opened up in an exclusive interview with al-Sharq al-Awsat on recent developments i the Middle EAst, including Syria and Turkey.


Elaraby explained that the Committee in charge with the Syrian dossier will resume its work on June 25, when it will devised with all parties involved a way out of the crisis.

The Secretary General strongly condemned the Hezbollah's decision to send troops in Syria in support of President Basahr al-Assad, noting that in his view it consisted in a violation of one's country national sovereignty.

In regards to Turkey, Elaraby noted that one could not simply dismissed Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's achievements over the past ten years.

Talking on the outcome of the Iranian elections, he noted, "While one cannot predict an outcome, we cannot however ignore the fact that  it is indeed Iran's prime power player, the Supreme Leader, who remains very much in charge of  the country's political future, not the prime minister".
