PA cabinet condemns Israeli minister's remarks on killing Arabs

7 Aug 2013 10:01

Islam Times - The Palestinian Authority cabinet on Tuesday condemned remarks by an Israeli minister calling for Palestinian suspects to be assassinated rather than detained.

At an Israeli cabinet meeting to discuss the release of Palestinian prisoners, Economy Minister Naftali Bennett said: "If you catch terrorists, you have to simply kill them," according to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

"I've killed lots of Arabs in my life – and there's no problem with that," Bennett added at the July 29 meeting.

The PA cabinet said Bennett's remarks were "seen as a clear threat." At the weekly meeting in Ramallah, it called on the international community and human rights organizations to protect Palestinian prisoners and to compel Israel to comply with international law.

PA ministers expressed particular concern for Jordanian prisoners on hunger strike who are suffering critical health conditions.

The cabinet also condemned Israel's latest decision to support over 90 settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and settler attacks which damaged 15 vehicles and caused the death of many cattle near Nablus.
