Mobile phone applications altering the Holly Quran

Mobile phone applications altering the Holly Quran
Yet, what matters in this issue is the fact that the owners of such phones are installing different programs and applications related to the written Quran, not knowing at the same time that they contain some spelling mistakes and that some verses are being altered, and this is incompatible with the sanctity of the Holy Quran.

The problem is that if the browser was not aware of and was not memorizing the verses of the Quran, then he/she will not notice those spelling mistakes and will not pay attention to some of the blessed verses that are missing and/or being altered.

Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to this problem and to address it; those applications are unidentified and their purposes are undisclosed. Some people are keen to install these electronic Qurans, for they are simply easy to be used without paying attention to all that.

It is noteworthy that according to this website, a number of young people have launched an extensive campaign on “Facebook” to warn of the danger of such programs and applications related to the Holy Quran, especially that nothing can tell about them but only phrases urging the browsers to open and then to install them quickly, as the phrase: “Load the fastest Quran”, or the phrase “Download the Quran in clear handwriting”.

The website continues to mention these mistakes saying that those who are used to read the Quran Suras (chapters) frequently, as well as those who studied the Quran by heart, can detect the mistakes related to the form and letter, for there are extra characters and other incomplete ones. In some chapters, many of the words were repeated, such as what came in verse 35 of Sura ‘Al-Bakara’ (the cow), where the verse “Do not approach this tree” is repeated.

Also, some verses are manifestly incomplete as the verses 77, 76 and 52 of Sura ‘Al-Bakara’. In Sura ‘Al-Kahef’ (the cave), there were extra characters in verse 82. As for the two Suras ‘Maryam’ (Mary) and ‘Al-Hajj’ (the pilgrimages), they have been distorted in many of the electronic Qurans and they include dozens of spelling mistakes.

A member of the Algerian Muslim Scholars Association said that it is the duty of the owners of mobile phones to make sure to transfer of the Quran from the official Islamic bodies specializing in the publication of the Quran, which are overseen by the scientists in this field.
