Al Khalifa court orders child to serve a prison sentence

Islam Times - Al Khlaifa regime has stooped to a new low when it ordered a young boy, Jihad Al Somei - 10-years-old – to serve a 6 months prison sentence after the authorities chose to charge him with the destruction of public properties. According to police reports, Jihad attacked police officers and damaged their cars.

His family and those close to the issue have always proclaimed his innocence, arguing that all charges brought against him were fabricated.

Regardless of the circumstances which brought to the boy’s arrest, activists both in and out of Bahrain have said to be outraged that the kingdom could so blatantly and openly violate its citizens’ most basic and inherent human rights.

Following a two-hour trial on July 17th, 2014, Jihad was sentenced to serve 6 months in prison by a juvenile judge.
