Islam Times - In a statement to the press made on Tuesday, Iran President Hassan Rouhani sent an invitation to all men and women to stand together on Quds Day, an event which has been observed in Iran since 1979. It takes place every year on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

President Rouhani stressed on the need to show Zionists a common front at a time when Palestine is suffering the onslaught of the Israeli army.

It was late-Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini who first initiated this day of commemoration, this rally in the name of Al Quds and what the city represents for Islam.

“The larger the turnout on this year’s Quds Day, the greater the expression of support for the oppressed people of Palestine,” President Rouhani said.

Commemorative demonstrations to mark the International Quds Day will be held in 80 countries, head of the Intifada (Uprising) and Quds Center announced on the same day.

According to Ramezan Sharif, Iranians will also take part in nationwide demonstrations in 770 different locations on July 25 to condemn Israel’s atrocities against Palestine.
