Islam Times - Reports of violence at military checkpoint near Arsal

Islam Times - Sources in Arsal confirmed that clashes erupted near an Army checkpoint after the armed forces opened fire at a suspicious vehicle passing through the area.

After a man refused to comply with calls to stop his vehicle to undergo a search, soldiers were forced to move into position and intercept the suspicious driver. In response, the driver fired at the Army and fled the scene.

Since July 12, Hezbollah fighters, backed by Syrian aerial and ground bombardment targeting rebel hideouts in the mountainous outskirts of Arsal, have engaged in fierce fighting with members of the Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army as part of the resistance party’s attempts to root out rebel groups from border areas with Lebanon.
