Lieberman brands UNHCR a terror organization over calls for probe into war crimes
The school which acted a refuge for civilians – mainly women and children – was brutally attacked on Thursday afternoon. Over a dozen unarmed civilians, among whom many children, some only a few weeks old, perished in the bombing, torn apart by shrapnel or obliterated by mortar shells.

The incident profoundly shocked the world as it was caught on camera by several different news outlets.

The UN almost immediately issued a statement condemning the reckless targeting civilian populations, reminding all parties that such tactics of war are strictly forbidden and outlawed under the Geneva Convention.

But it seems FM Lieberman does not consider Israel to be bound to such rules. Quite clearly he denounced that any criticism of Israel automatically equates to the promotion of terror, as Israel stands above all nations and therefore suffers no critic.

He said, “We will continue to fight terror and continue to fight the hypocrisy and anti-Semitism of bodies such as the UNHRC,” Lieberman claimed.

The UNHRC’s decision to launch the inquiry was made shortly after its chief Navi Pillay said that there is a “strong possibility” that Tel Aviv was violating international law in its military operations against Gaza.

Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni also accused the UNHRC of “supporting terrorism” and insisted that the Tel Aviv regime will “continue to fight terrorism.”
