Is Daash under Turkey’s protection?

16 Aug 2014 07:06

Islam Times - According to several Turkish websites, among which Rast, Turkey attempted to cover up the facts that ISIL militants – Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – were arrested in the village of Silopi. The terrorists entered the village driving trucks.

The authorities denied that the men were ISIL militants, stating that such rumours were untrue and unfounded. The authorities even allegedly claimed that the men were actually working for the state.

Residents in Silopi gathered around the Police station to express their outrage at such blatant lies. Resident told media they have proof – pictures and videos – showing that the militants are indeed ISIL affiliates and not as the Gendarmerie claimed security forces men.

300 angry villagers surrounded the Police station, demanding the authorities to explain the situation. Clashes broke out in between protesters and police. Men set several cars on fire and burned tires in the streets in anger.

The local authorities had to use tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd.

Many in Turkey have often accused the Freedom and Justice Party to be enabling ISIL from the shadows to further its own Islamic agenda.
