Sectarian discrimination in Bahrain

30 Aug 2014 11:43

Islam Times - Bishop Camillo Ballin, Vicar Apostolic of Northern Arabia (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia) said on Vatican radio that the King of Bahrain, Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, has said he is willing not only to help 200 Christian families forced from the homes in Mosul but also receive them in Bahrain.

King Hamad also told Pope Francis that he is donating 9,000 square metres of land for the construction of a Marian cathedral on his territory.

Activists in Bahrain have welcomed such news with much bewilderment since King Hamas has shown utter contempt for Shia Islam. Ever since 2011, Al Khalifa has waged a veritable war against all Shia Muslims in Bahrain, all the while claiming to the world he does not discriminate based on faith.

The irony of the situation would be comical if not desperately sad.

For almost four years King Hamad has allowed the authorities to raid, kill, brutalize, torture and imprison citizens based on their religious affiliations; yet he wants to help Christians.
