27 Sep 2014 07:00

Islam Times - According to Bahrain Centre for Human Rights an estimated 40 Bahrainis were unlawfully stripped of their nationality over the past two years, in complete and utter violation of international law.

Under Article 15 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “everyone has a right to a nationality.” Moreover, “No one shall be deprived of his nationality arbitrarily or denied the right to change his nationality.”

The Centre which has been documenting Bahrain regime’s many grave violations against its people has stressed that since 2011 the authorities have violated over 2000 people’s human and/or civil rights, making Bahrain one of the most repressive regime in the Arabian Peninsula.

The government has been using nationality revocation as a political repressive tool.
