Christian militias back peshmerga in Nineveh province

Islam Times - The House of Mesapotamia Democratic Party confirmed Thursday that preparations are underway to set up units which will be specifically put in charge of guarding and protecting Christian communities in the Nineveh province.

Keen to organize themselves against the growing threat of Daash, the sons of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian have joined regular military troops in order to assist the state and local authorities in their fight against terror.

The Secretary of the party, Romeo Hakkari said there are an estimated 1000 volunteers ready to be registered.

Local men understand that they will have to protect their lands and their homes if Iraq is to survive the terror threat.
