Bombs in Baghdad claim more lives

27 Oct 2014 06:43

Islam Times - At least eight Shia volunteer forces fighting IS militants have been killed in a bomb attack near the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, official sources say.

Iraqi officials said the incident happened late on Saturday in the town of Taji, situated 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of Baghdad.

They said 17 people also sustained injuries when a bomber blew himself up at a gathering of Shia volunteer forces in the Iraqi town.

The overall security situation in Iraq has worsened over the past months after the IS terrorists, of whom many are foreign militants, took control of parts of Iraq’s northern and western regions.

According to the United Nations, over 1,110 people were killed in acts of violence across the violence-stricken Arab country in September.

The IS terrorists have been committing heinous crimes in the captured areas in Iraq and Syria, including mass executions and beheading of people.
