ISIL hackers take down website of Syrian Observatory for Human Rights

9 Jul 2015 05:39

Islam Times - ISIL Takfiri terrorist hackers have taken down the website of the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) and threatened its director.

According to the director of the UK-based group, Rami Abdel Rahman, cyber terrorists claiming to be affiliated to ISIL replaced the front page of the website with a doctored image of him along with a threatening text on Wednesday.

The manipulated image portrayed Abdel Rahman’s face photoshopped onto the body of an ISIL prisoner in an orange jumpsuit waiting to be executed by a Takfiri terrorist.

The text accompanying the image read "Cyber Army of the Khilafah broke into the computer systems of SOHR ... seized control of its website, destroying it, and wiping out the data."

Abdel Rahman, currently living in the UK, confirmed that the hackers had gained access to the observatory’s servers and corrupted some data.

"We have a copy of all the information that has been published and until the site is back up, we will publish on our Facebook and Twitter accounts," he said.

SOHR is a foreign-backed opposition group that claims to cover the conflict in Syria, which began in March 2011.

Similar attacks by groups claiming to be ISIL affiliates have also been carried out on various international websites.
