Jordanians protest against US VP’s planned visit over al-Quds
Nearly 70 protesters gathered in front of the US embassy in the capital Amman on Saturday, holding banners and chanting slogans against Pence’s visit, Reuters reported.

The US vice president is scheduled to arrive in Amman late on Saturday and is expected to meet with Jordan's King Abdullah on Sunday.

"The Zionist right-wing representative is not welcome," one banner read.

In December 2017, Trump said Washington was recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel and planning to relocate the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the city.

Washington’s dramatic U-turn on Jerusalem al-Quds drew global condemnations, prompting the UN General Assembly to overwhelmingly approve a resolution against Trump’s declaration.

The entire Jerusalem al-Quds is currently under Israel’s control, while the regime also claims the city’s eastern part, which hosts the third holiest Muslim site.

The city, which Palestinians want as the capital of their future state, has been designated as “occupied” under international law since the 1967 Arab War.
