Over 1,610 Kurdish Fighters Killed, Captured in Turkish Military Operation in Northern Syria

Islam Times - A sum of 1,614 Kurdish gunmen have thus far been killed or captured in the Turkish Army forces' operation in Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo, the Turkish Army General Staff said in its latest statement on Sunday.


The statement said that the Turkish army men and Ankara-backed militants continued Operation Olive Branch against the Kurds in Afrin, adding that a sum of 1,614 Kurdish fighters have been killed or captured in the operation that started on January 20.
 
In relevant developments on Saturday the Turkish Army forwarded more troops and military hardware to the border with Syria to continue assault on the Kurdish militias as a number of Arab media outlets claimed that the Syrian army plans to deploy in Afrin to stand against the Turkish aggression.
 
The sources said that the Turkish army sent a convoy of military vehicles and ambulances to Hatay province at the border with Syria's Idlib to further join the Ankara forces' operation against the Kurds in Northern Aleppo.
 
The sources said that the convoy includes several personnel carrier vehicles, adding that the convoy is to be sent to Afrin to join Operation Olive Branch in Northwestern Aleppo.
