Preacher heckled, roasted for calling Saudi, US ‘peace leaders’

Islam Times - Social media is abuzz with talk about a video, in which a controversial Saudi preacher is heckled by a critic during a speech and blasted for saying last year that the Saudi regime and the US “lead the nations of the world towards peace.”

In the footage, which has created a stir across the Internet since last week, Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais is seen being addressed by an Algerian critic after delivering a speech at a mosque in Geneva.

The man questions Sudais’ comments in New York last September, when he said Riyadh and Washington were “steering the world and humanity to the ports of security, peace, and prosperity.”

“How can America and Saudi Arabia lead the nations of the world towards peace and stand over people in peace? How can you lecture us about peace while you boycott and starve our brothers in Yemen and Qatar?” the critic asks.

“[Sudais] comes here and preaches to us. He gives us Islamic rulings legalizing the killing of our brothers in Yemen,” he says.

“You slaves of America,” the man shouts, adding, “As for you, you are the shoe of the tyrant ruler. May you be crushed. And may the curse follow you until the Day of Judgment.”

“You are preachers of falsehood…are responsible on the Day of Judgment,” the Algerian is heard saying.

The Algerian then addresses those accusing him of causing discord, saying, “This is not discord. Discord is being quite in the face of discord…I will not stop brother. This is the treatment for these types of people. The one silent over the truth is like the one with no rights.”

The Algerian also accuses Sudais of support for past coups in Algeria, Egypt, and Turkey.

Saudi Arabia and a coalition of its allies have been bombing Yemen since 2015 to restore its Riyadh-friendly former officials.

More than 600,000 have either been killed or injured in the campaign, Yemen’s Health Ministry says.

The US is the kingdom’s biggest arms supplier. It also provides the invasion with bombing coordinates, aerial refueling, and a commando force deployed to destroy the missiles, which Yemen uses in its counterattacks.

Last June, Riyadh and its allies, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Bahrain, boycotted Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism.
Doha roundly rejects the claim.
