China recently stepped up security in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
Islam Times reports from Xinhua: “The West has used the so-called fight against terror as a cheap excuse to intervene in other nations' internal affairs,” a commentary said.

The article, which was published by the Chinese state-run news agency, stated that ten years after the 9/11 attacks, the campaign against terrorism was “far from over,” with terrorists changing tactics and increasing “collaboration with separatists and religious extremists.”

The United States in particular has been silent about the damage caused by extremists in Russia's Chechnya and in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the commentary noted.

China has reduced its military cooperation with the Pentagon in response to the United States' decision to sell $6.4 billion of arms to Taiwan. China considers the island to be part of its territory.

Beijing has also imposed unspecified sanctions on US firms that sell weapons to Taiwan.
