Syria (Islam Times) - China has confirmed the need for the Human Rights Council to maintain its impartiality and objectivity regarding the events in Syria and to base its work on accurate and reliable information which would assist in promoting dialogue and cooperation rather than switching to a forum to direct charges and to impose pressure on the Syrian state.

Islam Times: China's permanent representative at the United Nations in Geneva, Khe Le, stressed in a statement during a special session of the Human Rights Council on Syria in Geneva on the need for any initiative to resolve the crisis in Syria to be based on dialogue, consultation and respect Syria's sovereignty and independence and ensure the maintenance of stability and social order in it, and that in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the law.

The Chinese representative pointed out that it is not entitled to any external force to interfere in the internal affairs of Syria and its future, considering that the launch of an inclusive political process with internal leadership is the only way to resolve the crisis in Syria.

He said: We will ask all interested parties to participate constructively in the dialogue to push the political process together to ease tension and settle the issue peacefully and avoid violence.

The Chinese delegate pointed to the importance of the stability of Syria and its great affect on the stability and security in the entire region, warning that turmoil in some areas in the Middle East and North Africa severely disrupted economic and social development and the lives of peoples in these countries.
