18 Sep 2011 08:00

Islam Times - Israel's Foreign Ministry summoned Egypt's ambassador to explain a statement by Egypt's prime minister suggesting that the peace agreement between the two countries could be renegotiated.

Islam Times reports from JTA: "The Camp David agreement is not a sacred thing," Prime Minister Essam Sharaf told Turkish television Thursday, "and is always open to discussion with what would benefit the region and the case of fair peace ... and we could make a change if needed."

At the Friday meeting, the Foreign Ministry's director-general, Rafi Barak, reportedly told the Egyptian ambassador, Yasser Reda, that the peace treaty should be maintained.
