Islam Times - Obama, tool of Israeli lobby: US analyst

Islam Times - US President Barack Obama is manipulated by the powerful Israeli lobby that wields major influence amongst American government and media circles, a political analysts tells Press TV's US Desk.

“As long as we are doing Israel's bidding and as long as the Israeli lobby controls the American government and the American media to the extent that they do, the American people can plan on paying more outlandish taxes and continue funding Israel's lobby,” said Mark Dankof, a former US Senate candidate, on Saturday.

Pointing to Obama administration's threat to veto the Palestinian bid for statehood at the UN, Dankof insisted that “he (Obama) is a tool of the Israeli lobby and that's bad news, and it's doubly bad news for the Palestinian people.”

Washington has repeatedly threatened to veto a bid by the Palestinian Authority to seek statehood for Palestine during the current annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The American commentator went on to say that the US is involved in “an armaments production race in conjunction with Israel to defend policies that are absolutely indefensible.”

In a similar exclusive interview, analyst Stephen Sneigoski said the pressure on US [lawmakers] by Israeli lobbyists is discouraging “real” politicians from coming forward in support of Palestinian efforts to gain statehood.

More than 100 countries have so far officially recognized Palestine as a state based on the 1967 borders, the boundaries that existed before Israel captured and annexed East al-Quds (Jerusalem), the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

On Friday, Acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas officially submitted his bid for the UN recognition of a Palestinian state to the world body's Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Addressing the General Assembly, Abbas also said that he had decided to request for UN membership of his state after the Israeli regime smashed all efforts to reach peace through talks.
