Al-Maliki: Iraq supports dialogue in Syria

Baghdad (Islam Times) – On Saturday, the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki announced that Baghdad is ready to welcome the Syrian opposition soon to reach solutions that meet the demands of the Syrian away from violence and civil war and at the same time renewed his rejection of the economic sanctions on Damascus.


Al-Maliki said in a press conference that: “the situation in Syria is dangerous and the situation must be addressed carefully so as not to turn the spring in Syria in winter.”
 
He added: “The Syrian opposition asked us to come to Iraq and we have welcomed them and we will meet.”

Al-Maliki, and in an interview with “Associated Stress”, said that “Iraq supports the dialogue and peaceful pursuits to achieve change and required reforms.”

He added in a statement issued by his office on Saturday that: “standing by the peoples is not through sanctions or resorting to arms, but we are with the right of the peoples to pursue democracy and real participation in governance through conducting free democratic elections.”
