Sarkozy forced to hide from angry protesters

Islam Times - French President Nicolas Sarkozy was forced to hide in a bar after being booed by hundreds of angry protesters as he campaigned in the Basque country...


Islam Times: Sarkozy faced a hostile crowd, who jeered him and shouted insults. Some chanted “Nicolas kampora”, which in the Basque language meant “Nicolas get out”. Even the bar he took shelter in was targeted of eggs.

An angry Sarkozy later denounced the the protesters as “hooligans” and and their actions as “the violence of a minority and their unacceptable behaviour”.

“Here, we're in France, on the territory of the French republic, and the president of the republic will go everywhere. And if that doesn't please a minority of troublemakers, too bad for them”, he said.

Sarkozy also accused the Socialists of being involved in the incident.
