The Al-Houthi Movement in Yemen stopped the Yemeni Government from obtaining a Strategic Position

Islam Times , 27 Sep 2009 09:09

The Yemeni army was unable to capture the strategic mountainous area called Musharaf in the Saada province.

The fighting between the Yemeni forces and the Al-Houthi army increased over the last few days. Tens of soldiers on both sides were killed and taken prisoner in areas such as Harf Safyan. The Office of Abd al-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Al-Houthi movement, announced: “Yemen jets bombed Al-Houthi areas more than 48 times in order to take over the mountainous region of Safyan in the Imran province. But, they failed in everyone of their attacks. Al-Houthi forces captured 90 Yemeni soldiers in Shaqar Safyan which is between the Saada and Imran provinces.”

Billions of dollars sent by Saudi Arabia

Fawad Ibrahim, one of the people who oppose the Saudi Arabian government, said in an interview with Al-Alam: “The Saud family considers the events that take place in Yemen to be Saudi Arabian events. They believe that nobody should take power in Yemen without Saudi Arabia’s consent. The Saudi Arabian government has created disunity in Yemen by sending Wahabis and through financing various factions. They have spent billions of dollars since the 90s.”

Muhammad al-Mukhlafi, a member of the Yemen Socialist Party said in an interview with Al-Alam: “This fight is not only limited to Saada and northern Yemen, it spreads to the south as well. Today Yemen is facing human tragedy and economical hardship.”
