Abu Zuhri said in a special interview with Islam Times correspondent in Gaza, “The occupation bears full responsibility for the serious aggression faced by our people in the Gaza Strip, as well as for all the consequent developments and results”.

Regarding the Palestinian response, Abu-Zuhri clarified that it is the right of our people to face the aggression, to resist it, and to protect their selves in the face of the crimes they are facing by the Zionist enemy.

In another context, Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza stressed that the priorities of his government at the time being are focusing on stopping the Zionist aggression, protecting the Palestinian people, and strengthening their steadfastness.
A brief statement stated, “Haniyeh is making intensive contacts with several parties to stop the Zionist aggression”.

The Gaza Strip is witnessing since last Friday evening a Zionist escalation resulted in the death of 17 Palestinians, wounded dozens of people, and caused significant property damage.
Moreover, the Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas denounced what he described as Zionist dangerous escalation against the population of the Gaza Strip, holding the Zionist government responsible for that.

President Abbas made a series of contacts with the Egyptian leadership and with some international groups, calling for the cessation of the Zionist operations. Abbas also made a series of phone calls with Khaled Meshaal, the head of Hamas’ politburo, and Ramadan Shallah, the Secretary General of Islamic Jihad, who expressed their keenness not to escalate.

In addition, the United States expressed its concern about the worsening of the security situation between the Zionist entity and the Gaza Strip and called on the two parties to restore calmness, according to the spokeswoman for the U.S. State.
The Supreme coordinator for the foreign policy and security in the European Union, Catherine Ashton said, “The European Union is following with interest the recent escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip and the Zionist entity”.

Ashton expressed, in a press statement, the she deeply regrets the casualties among the civilians, and said that it is essential to avoid further escalation and urged all the parties to return to calmness.
