Thwarting attempt by ISIL to establish branch in Egypt

15 militants were arrested, all hailing from Palestine, Iraq and Syria.

In an interview with Alsumaria, a source explained that “the security forces foiled the first serious attempt to establish an ISIL branch in the Sinai Peninsula.” He explained further that the militants were all foreigners. 

According to analysts ISIL seeks to expand its zone if influence far beyond Syria and Iraq, and as such poses a threat to regional security.
