US rallies inspired by Arab Spring: Poll
According to an online survey conducted between February 6 and 18, with a sampling of 7,699 people, 44 percent of respondents said they believe the wave of Islamic Awakening, which swept through countries in the Middle East and North Africa, has now reached the US coasts.

Forty-one percent of those surveyed said they think major challenges are taking place within the American socio-political structure. Only 15 percent said nationwide rallies in the United States could ultimately change the American political structure.

The Occupy protest owes its inspiration to the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement, which began when a group of demonstrators gathered in New York's financial district on September 17, 2011 to protest against the excessive influence of big corporations on the US and high-level corruption in the country.

More than 6,000 Occupy protesters have been apprehended since the emergence of the movement.
