They are trying to get us out of ‘Tariq al Jadidah’
Birjawi said that “Jumblatt, who criticized President al-Assad previously, attacked us, and tried to ridicule what happened in Tariq al Jadidah- despite the fact that he remained silent when two young men belonging to us died a martyr’s death and when they tried to kill me- has sent a letter to the Syrian president that was delivered to one of the Syrian security officials.
He told him in that letter that he is looking forward to see Syria out of its crisis, and that the circumstances surrounding him oblige him to have such positions”.

Regarding the clashes that took place yesterday in Beirut, the head of the Arab Movement Party said that what has happened is the completion of the series, which began about two years ago”, adding that “they are trying to get us out of Tariq al Jadidah, and that is why they began to harass our comrades and supporters”.

He pointed out that “there are numerous incidents taking place, but are kept away from media, with the exception of what happened with Abu Saeed Shamli when they tried to attack the Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani”.

He revealed that the Future Movement tried, in collaboration with Salafist groups linked to people arrested by the army in the recent period, to exploit an incident with one of our comrades and to pave the way for encountering us, in an attempt to get us out of ‘Hay El Gharbi’”.

Birjawi continued saying that “they brought the clash with our comrade to an end after he refused their proposals to push him to resign and to leave the party”. He added that “the clashes began Saturday afternoon, but have been stopped shortly thereafter, and then those who belong to the Future Movement and the Salafis started them again at dawn on Sunday after recruiting elements from the Bekaa and the Iqlim al-Kharoub areas”, revealing that the attack began after they performed the Fajr prayers in the Sabra mosque”.

According to him, “the attack lasted for about six hours, but they were surprised by the response process”. He added that “we have been informed that something was going to happen as prepared on Saturday night”, stressing that “the number of the attackers was estimated as two hundred and fifty-fighters, about a hundred of them participated actively”.
