tensions grow

tensions grow
Islam Times reports from Voice of Russia: The incident with Davis only uncovers the real tensions in Pakistani-USA’s relations, especially with the army, their different approaches to war against insurgence in western Asia.

Washington cannot forgive that Islamabad continues to launch military operations in North Waziristan tribal area in January this year, because this was against its national interests, and Islamabad has paid too much, lost a lot of innocent lives in this war, and the White House did less.

The court would decide the issue of provision of immunity to US citizen Raymond Davis who killed 27 ingenious persons in daytime in Lahore. After his arrest he said that he defended himself from robbery.

Since that time, Islamabad is under unprecedented US pressure, insisting that Davis has diplomatic immunity, but Mr. Qureshi, the former Minister for Foreign Affairs, stated that when he was in charge, his office provided him a business visa only.

But Prime Minister Mr. Gilani stated: the entire nation has strongly condemned this incident and demanded justice. The incident of Mr. Davis cannot undermine Pakistan-USA relations in general. Pakistan is the key US’s player in anti-terrorist war in the region. But currently Islamabad is not the same as it was even yesterday, and Washington would not realize this updated environment.
