Rights groups have urged the organization to abide by human rights standard and honour their profession by caring for all patients without discrimination.

According to reports doctors have been bullied by the authorities and urged not to assist wounded protesters. The College Board back in Ireland has expressed worry over such allegations, stressing that politics and medicine were not good bed-fellows.

Doctor Ali Ekry, a reputable surgeon and humanitarian - he volunteered in Gaza in 2009 – was arrested on charges of treating protesters at the Salmaniya Hospital. Others like him have been imprisoned by the authorities on bogus charges.
