Ayatollah Sistani worried about a Delay in the Iraqi Elections
Shaykh Abd al-Mahdi Karbala’i, in the Friday Sermon held in Karbala, stated: “The fear is that the issue will return to its first house. Progress has been made, but the marja’ of Iraq [Ayatollah Sistani] is worried about the small amount of time; is worried that the independent election committee will not have enough time to hold the elections.”

This committee met on Wednesday, after the opposition of Tariq Hashimi, the Sunni assistant of Jalal Talebani, the President of Iraq, was not ratified. They had stopped all of their activities before this.

Karbala’i, in front of the people gathered at the shire of Imam Hussayn, expressed hope that the parliament would solve this crisis. He added: “We ask all of the political movements and parties to find a rational path to solve this problem. We also ask that the elections be held on its specified day.”
