On Monday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamed Badr el-Din Zayed in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to discuss the Israeli attacks and the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The Egyptian official was in Tehran to participate in a one-day meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Ministerial Committee on Palestine which was held in the Iranian capital on Monday.

During the talks, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the need for Muslim and Arab states to make efforts to stop the massacre of the Palestinians in Gaza and end the crippling Israeli blockade of the densely-populated area.

The Iranian official also expressed hope that Cairo will facilitate the delivery of Iran’s relief aid to the residents of Gaza and issue permission for the transfer of the wounded Palestinians to the Islamic Republic through the Egyptian soil.

The first consignment of Iran’s humanitarian aid for Gazans has been flown into Cairo and is waiting to be cleared for transfer into the Palestinian sliver via the Egyptian-controlled Rafah border crossing.

Zayed, in turn, thanked the Islamic Republic for hosting the emergency NAM meeting on the situation in Gaza, promising that his country will make necessary arrangements for the dispatch of Iran’s humanitarian aid into the strip.

The two sides also agreed to help lessen the sufferings of Gazans through bilateral Tehran-Cairo cooperation.
