Palestinians clash with Israeli troops in Jerusalem, Bethlehem

One child was hospitalized and dozens were injured during the clashes, which came one night after Israeli forces shot dead nine Palestinians across the West Bank late Friday and in the early morning hours on Saturday.
 
East Jerusalem
 
A toddler from the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem was hospitalized Saturday evening after she inhaled tear gas during clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the neighborhood.
 
Majdi al-Abbasi of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center said that in Silwan clashes broke in Ein al-Luzah and Beer Ayyub. Palestinians, he said, threw molotov cocktails and fireworks at an Israeli police patrol and at a security vehicle belonging to a settler.
 
Al-Abbasi also said that a tear gas canister was fired at home of Jawad Siyam and as a result his two-year-old daughter Jana was seriously hurt and was evacuated to hospital.
 
Cameramen Majd Gheith and Ahmad Siyam were also hurt.
 
Fierce clashes broke out late on Saturday evening in several neighborhoods across East Jerusalem including Silwan, Isawiya, Beit Hanina and Shufat as thousands marched in solidarity with Gaza.
 
Clashes continued until after midnight as Israeli troops firing tear-gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets at the protestors. The soldiers also hosed protesters down with a cannon shooting foul-smelling liquid.
 
Similar clashes were reported in Isawiya, namely at the eastern entrance to the town. Satellite TV stations aired live clashes between young Palestinian men and Israeli troops. Several Molotov Cocktails were hurled at Israeli soldiers and undercover officers in plain clothes.
 
In Shufat refugee camp, Fatah movement spokesman Thaer al-Fasfous told Ma'an that fierce clashes broke out around a military checkpoint at the main entrance to the camp.
 
He highlighted that Israeli forces showered the area with tear gas canisters, hurting both protestors and bystanders including shop owners and local residents. Four young men were hit with rubber-coated bullets.
 
A reporter of Jordan TV station was also struck by a rubber-coated bullet.
 
East Jerusalem has been under Israeli military occupation since 1967, and around 200,000 Israeli Jews live in settlements built around and between Palestinian neighborhoods.
 
Husan
 
Several Palestinians were injured Saturday night as a result of excessive tear-gas inhalation during fierce clashes with Israeli forces in the village of Husan west of Bethlehem.
 
Locals told Ma'an that clashes broke in al-Mityana area near the Israeli settler bypass road in western Husan between young Palestinian men and Israeli troops.
 
Protestors hurled stones at the soldiers, who fired rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters hurting many protestors and residents.
 
Earlier in the week, Israeli forces killed two Palestinians in Husan during protests in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, where more than 1,000 have died in an Israeli assault.
