Gaza reconstruction aims to prevent ISIL spread to Palestine
Western powers fear that Palestine youth’s ever growing support for ISIL militants will translate on the ground with the creation of cells in Gaza and potentially spill over to Israel. It was Abdel Bari Atwan, Palestine’s most prominent journalist who first uttered such theory, warning that Palestine would become ISIL’s nest battleground.

He warned that according to America’s own estimation the war against terror could last as long as 30 years.

A potential "moderation" of Hamas in alignment with the "solution of negotiations will" give "a jihadist vacuum" which vacuum ISIL will fill with its violent and unforgiving ideology.

The same formula, he says, has enabled Hamas in the past to fill that same void left by Fatah when the faction abandoned armed resistance under the terms of the Oslo Accords in 1993.

"Information from Gaza and the West Bank indicate that the organization" Islamic State "(Daash) and" Jabhat Al Nusra "have a great support in the areas of the Palestinian Islamic youth, since they have disappointed by both the Fatah and Hamas. Cells belonging to both organizations begin to form and grow, especially in and around Hebron in the West Bank and in the town of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.”

According to Atwan it is out of fear ISIL is coming to Palestine that western powers have exerted pressure on Israel government by calling for a relaxation of the blockade on Gaza as well as call for the integration of more workers from the West Bank.

Putting in historical context recent reports pointing to some European countries to fast-track Palestine as a recognized sovereign entity – Sweden already expressed willingness – Atwan noted that such tactic is meant to act a tranquilizer of sort on Palestinians, a quick fix to prevent its Youth to turn to extremism.

"The Arab region is now on the edge of a precipice, Israel is surrounded by chaos, extremism and failed or almost failed states. [...] The West is only concerned with Israel and its safety is a priority for its leaders, "noted Atwan.

"The day they mobilize their air forces to counter Israeli aggression as they have done to protect Kurds in Irbil, the day they will oppose Israel tanks advances on Gaza and the slaughtering of innocent civilians; when they prevent Israel air force from obliterating children on the beach in Gaza, then that day, we will say that there is a real change in Western rhetoric towards the Palestinian dossier …. Until then they are really playing us for fools,” concluded Atwan.
