The Muslim cemeteries in Jaffa will be changed into Zionist hotels and apartments
Islam Times correspondent in occupied Palestine stated that Zionist companies are planning to build a hotel and residential apartments on the land of the cemetery. Thus, “Al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf and Heritage”, as well as active figures in the city of Jaffa, condemned strongly this unjust decision, and considered it tantamount to giving permission to violate the sanctity of the dead Muslims.“Al-Aqsa Foundation” stressed that there are tens of Muslims graves, dead bodies, and remains buried in the cemetery of Al-Qishlah, and this was also verified by the so-called the “Zionist Antiquities Authority”.
The Engineer Zaki Igbaria, President of the “Al-Aqsa Foundation”, said that it has became clear that the Israeli courts are a tool to implement the policies of the Israeli Establishment, which insist on attacking the Islamic and Christian sanctities as graves, mosques and churches. He also stressed that this decision comes in the series of Israeli aggressions on the endowments and shrines within the 1948 territories and in Jerusalem.
The Court Judge claimed that the graves that were found at the place during the excavations have been moved from the place and that they are very old.
The Court also forced the petitioners to pay each of the Mayor of Tel Aviv, the Israeli Antiquities Authority, the Israeli Lands Administration, and Al-Qishlah House Company, which is intending to build a hotel in the area, the judicial expenses (about 40 thousand shekels).
Mohammed Ashqar, a member of Al-Aqsa Foundation’s administration and its local delegate, said, “The decision was not a surprise but on the contrary it was expected. We usually go to the courts to expose the Zionist Establishment in all its branches and to show the world that the term equity does not exist in the dictionary of the Zionist Establishment. Thus, we deplore the Judge’s decision stating that there is not any confirmed evidence found that proves that the graves are Islamic. In fact, their Islamic identities are proved without a doubt, even from the Antiquities Authority, and not just from us. The Antiquities Authority said that the graves are graves dating back to the period between the Mamluk and Ottoman”.
The Lawyer Mohammad Suleiman Igbaria said, “The decision of the Court is a stupid one, and it comes in a series of stupid decisions recently issued by the Israeli courts on the Islamic holy sites and cemeteries. There is a huge contradiction in the Court’s decision, as if this is the Israeli Court’s deliberate stupidity. Thus, the Court’s clear aim is to be able, through legal justifications and rationales, and even if they were wrong, to violate the Islamic holy sites and cemeteries”. He added that the issued decision is subject to appeal.
