“Threats [by Israel] against Iran will have no effect on the Islamic Republic and as always Iran will stand up against the ominous plots of the US and Israel in the region with might,” the Hamas leader made the remarks on the occasion of celebrating the 33rd anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution on Saturday.
“Israel; is incapable of carrying out its threats against Iran,” he added.
Referring to the wave of Islamic Awakening in the region, which resulted in the fall of the despotic dictators, Haniyeh said these revolutions will prepare the grounds for the liberation of al-Quds (Jerusalem) and al-Aqsa Mosque.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Haniyeh arrived in Tehran for an official three-day visit on Friday and was received at the airport by Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.
During his stay in Iran, Haniyeh will meet with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other senior Iranian officials.
This is Haniyeh’s second official visit to Iran since he was democratically elected in 2007.
