Palestinians march in solidarity with prisoners
Dozens of Palestinians marched through central Ramallah in solidarity with thousands of Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli Jails. The protesters called on the Palestinian Authority to end all forms of negotiations with Israel.

As many as 4500 Palestinians are held inside Israeli Jails, many of whom are on administrative detention; an infamous tool employed by the Israeli occupation forces which allows the arrest of an individual without pressing formal charges.

But often this form of arrest is renewable by Israeli military courts and Palestinians end up spending years in jail without being charged.

Former Palestinian prisoner and hunger striker Khadder Adnan was among the protesters. Adnan became one the Palestinian symbols of resistance when he launched an open ended hunger strike against administrative detention.

Bilal Thiab another former prisoner and hunger striker were also among the protesters.

The issue of Palestinian prisoners has united the Palestinian public everywhere. This protest here had participants from across the Palestinian political spectrum.

While Palestinians for dignity is still a relatively small movement, it managed to stir up the Palestinian public last June to oppose the scheduled meeting between the former Israeli vice Prime Minister Shaoul Mofaz and Acting Palestinian Authority (PA) Chief Mahmoud Abbas.

Once the news of the intended meeting reached the Palestinian public hundreds took to the streets in protest and compelled the Palestinian Authority to cancel the meeting.
