Their demands included an end of administrative corruption at the college which caused poor service and negligence of public facilities at the college. The also demanded the establishment of a new medical unit, and opening the halls, laboratories, and classrooms during lectures without any exception. They stressed the need to provide an appropriate educational environment.

Dr. Abdel Hadi Ahmadi, the dean of the community college, met with the students in the theater to calm the protesting students and promised to implement their demands within 15 days.

One of the students pointed out that they have demonstrated before, but their demands were not heard or met. She added that all the students have lost hope in those promises which were solely made to reduce the student’s anger out of fear of accountability and responsibility. Most of the Saudi universities witnessed several protest demonstrations demanding the end of widespread administrative corruption.

More than 50 female students at the King Khalid University were beaten this month when security forces tried to disperse their demonstration. There were reports of one student death. After that many female students boycotted King Khalid University in protest of the oppression and the injury of tens of fellow colleagues.

The university’s administration was also accused, by the students’ parents, of permitting security personnel to enter the faculties of arts and Education.
