"Two International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldiers were killed as a result of an Improvised Explosive Device attack from insurgents in southern Afghanistan on July 8," the press release added.

However, it did not give more details about the exact place of the incident or nationality of the victims.

Troops from U.S., UK, Australia, Canada and Holland have been stationed in the southern region to stabilize security in Taliban hotbed.

A massive offensive involving nearly 5,000 Afghan and U.S. Marines has been going on in the restive Helmand province since July 2 and so far 27 Taliban insurgents, according officials, have been killed.
