Islam Times reports that a number of members of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Organization (Hamas) were arrested by Egyptian security forces while they were travelling through Egypt to Gaza. They were then tortured in the most severe possible ways during their interrogation sessions.
The Egyptian officials tortured these prisoners with the purpose of trying to obtain information about the movements and housing of Hamas political and military leaders in Gaza.
The news of this report has created waves of anger amongst the leaders of Hamas living inside and outside of Gaza. There is a strong possibility that Hamas will react to these acts of torture.
The torturers also wanted to find the location of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit who was captured by Hamas soldiers and believed to be held in the Gaza Strip.
