Protests in Russia over Putin
Thousands of people supporting the opposition politicians came out onto the streets in central Moscow.

Saturday’s protest was the first major opposition move after last weekend's presidential election that saw Vladimir Putin secure a third term. Similar protests followed December's parliamentary elections, which the opposition claimed was rigged.

The opposition leaders have said their aim is to fight against lawlessness in a calm manner.

According to Kasianov, the goal of the protest rally is to make Putin and his team heed the people's voice.

Kasianov, just as many who took to the street to protest, called the election a farce.

Observers of last weekend’s presidential vote said there were some complaints and they will be looked into closely.

The rally for the fair elections is one of thousands of actions held in Moscow after the parliamentary and presidential elections.

The protestors say that they will continue street protests until there will be tangible and real changes.

Following his victory last week, Vladimir Putin gave a speech in front of thousands of people.

The Kremlin has given the people the freedom of expression; however, observers say this freedom is limited to street actions that are strictly controlled by the police.

The opposition says it is set to continue active street protests until the people's message heard by the government.
