Former Lebanese Defense Minister talks to Islam Times

Mrad made clear that he personally supports the idea of an election law which respect the rule of relativity in order to better represent the people of Lebanon and their wishes.

At a time when the country faces an aggravated political deadlock he stressed that politicians should all look to move forward and find viable solutions in view of preserving national cohesion and unity. He advised that until such law is passed an extension should be agreed upon.

“There is a clear cancer within Lebanon electoral system and we need to operate on this cancer and get rid of it,” he told Islam Times.

He added that it was high-time to move forward and end never-ending political bickering.
He warned that "Some political forces reject the law of relativity because it will upset their interest.”
