Turkish boom in northern Iraq
Kaymakci, who is visiting Irbil, told Anadolu Agency correspondent that he met with Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) leader Massoud Barzani and the two discussed the economic relations between Turkey and the KRG.

"I underlined that Turkey is ready to offer all kinds of support to ensure development, peace and security in Iraq.., and we discussed investment opportunities, and how to increase trade between Turkey and the regional government," Kaymakci said.

He stressed that the experiences gained in the region offer an important opportunity; "I see the developments achieved in Irbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok as a source of inspiration. The economic policies followed in this region and the advantages offered to Turkish businesses attract more investors and firms."

Kaymakci said that out of the 1,600 Turkish businesses operating in Iraq, 1,300 are in the Kurdish region, and he attributed this achievement to a successfully employed business policy. He also noted the competitiveness of Turkish businesses.

"Turkish businesses can take very bold and aggressive steps. They cooperate with local authorities, and collaborate with Iraqi companies. They employ local workers too. So they adapt pretty fast. The biggest strength of Turkish companies is their ability to offer quality and tailored goods and services at reasonable prices," he declared.
