Islam Times: The incident took place in the industrial town of Komotini just days after the Greek government agreed to further cuts in the public sector. The town is one of the worst hit in a country where unemployment is currently at 21% and rising.
The 61 year old then took two employees hostage, demanding his job back. Both hostages were eventually released unharmed and the man gave himself up to police.
The president of the Workers’ Union said: “The problem is we have to see why he did this, what forced his hand? The unemployment, the cut in income? We’ll have more of these problems ahead of us.”
