Iran speaks against attack in Sinai – foreign plot
Two attacks in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula killed 33 security personnel on Friday.

Thirty people were killed in the first attack in the al-Kharouba area northwest of al-Arish, near the Gaza Strip. The car bomb attack targeted two armoured vehicles at a checkpoint near an army installation.

Hours later, gunmen opened fire on a checkpoint in al-Arish, killing three members of the security forces, officials said.

In a statement on Friday evening, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham expressed sympathy with the families of the victims of the terrorist act.

She stressed that the Israeli regime takes advantage from “weakening and causing insecurity in the Egyptian society.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran hopes that the Egyptian nation and the leaders of the country will maintain their national and revolutionary unity and at the same time foil the Zionist regime's moves to instigate sedition among the Egyptian people,” she stated.
