Brazil’s President defends Iran’s Right to Nuclear Energy
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Brazil’s president, welcomed his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad by stating that Iran has the right to obtain peaceful nuclear energy. Lula da Silva, while supporting Iran’s right, emphasized that Brazil will not give enriched uranium to any country.

Brazil’s president also said that the only solution to the dispute between the west and Iran over Iran’s nuclear program and the issue of ‘Peace in the Middle East’ is diplomacy.

This was Ahmadinejad’s first official visit to Brazil. He is on a trip visiting 2 African countries: Gambia and Senegal and 3 Latin American countries: Brazil, Bolivia, and Venezuela.
